In 1990 Rabbi Yossie and Chanie Nemes were sent by the Lubavitcher Rebbe to Metairie to join the staff of Chabad of Louisiana and to open the Chabad Jewish Center. Our favorite pastimes are teaching adults and children farbrengens (Chasidic soul parties). We love being part of the New Orleans Jewish community and plan to stay here until Moshiach comes, hopefully very soon. We are the proud parents of eight children, some of whom have decided to return to New Orleans.
